I’m in a new role as a leader in my organization – where can I get some guidance and advice?
How can we help our staff member take the next step in their growth as a leader in our organization?
Executive Coaching is unique in that it is a service provided to and for an individual executive level staff member of a nonprofit organization. Through providing confidential advice, counsel, and serving as a sounding board, the goal is to help the executive serve the organization more effectively.
Executive Directors and Development Directors are critical to the effectiveness of organizations in the nonprofit sector. Many complex demands are placed on them, but few resources are provided to help them serve efficiently. Executive Coaching can help build a leader’s confidence and make the most of the resources available.
On a limited term basis, McDonald Schaefer Group works one-on-one with an Executive Director or other chief personnel, providing guidance and advice and serving as a sounding board. In some cases, the coaching can be provided in the context of a special project, such as coaching a development officer through the process of managing a Capital Campaign. In other cases it can be more open-ended, helping the executive navigate the myriad responsibilities that face them on a day-to-day basis.
We establish a relationship with the executive based on trust. How the advice or guidance is delivered is based on the needs and preferences of the individuals but can take the form of weekly meetings, regular phone calls, or simply being available when a question arises.
